Rain spoils top-of-table clash in Hucknall League

Terrible weather marred the eagerly-awaited top-of-the-table clash between unbeaten Abu Dhabi and Naughty America in the HUCKNALL SIX-A-SIDE LEAGUE on Monday night.

Heavy rain made it difficult for the players to control the ball or their feet on The National Academy surface, resulting in a stalemate 1-1 draw.

It was only the second point Abu Dhabi have dropped all season but it kept them five clear with just four games to play. Indeed the only side left with a realistic chance of catching them are Team 316, who have two matches in hand. They replaced the league’s top scorers Baywatch Babes in third place after beating them 3-2 with the help of yet another inspirational display from Daz Scrimshaw, who tops the league’s man-of-the-match table by some distance after gaining nine awards this term.

Elsewhere, Murder On Zidane’s Floor moved off the bottom of the table for the first time after a 3-1 win over Heaton Sports, which featured a man-of-the-match performance by Robert Raylor. They climb above Wa1tz D1sn3y, who lost 1-0 to rapidly-improving Warriors, and The Hornets, who had to concede a 5-0 walkover to KFC because they were unavailable to fulfil the fixture.

The remaining match was a 1-1 draw between Asian Persuasion and The Groomsmen, who fielded the star man, Matt Jameson.
