Notts County boss Ricardo Moniz admits his struggling side must deliver a performance against Mansfield Town in tonight’s JPT tie.
County have won just one league game this season and were thumped 4-1 at Morecambe at the weekend.
But Moniz hopes that a win against Stags will give the Notts fans some cupcheer and gain revenge for their 2-0 League Two defeat against Stags last month.“It is a good game for us because it is derby,” said Moniz.
“There is the result from the league game to take revenge for which is still fresh in everybody’s minds.
“But it will be tough because they are a good team. They are quick, aggressive and they intimidated so we must respond to that better than we did in the league game.
“But it is so important to give the fans a performance and for us to win before the international break.
“Otherwise it is a long time before you are back playing again.
“The players deserve a success experience because they did not deserve what happened at Aston Villa in the cup and for the chances we created on Saturday.”
“To win tonight would mean everything.
“Firstly because the players need the success experience because they did not deserve what happened at Villa and on Saturday at Morecambe.
“Secondly we do not want to be going into the international break on the back of a bad result because it would be a long time.
“As I have said in the past, every game is important, it is a must win and this is no different.
“We have to have a 100 per cent win mentality.
“But it will be tough because Mansfield are a good side as they have shown so far.
“However we are at home and we must give something to the fans because it is a derby.”
Mansfield go into the tie on the back of an encouraging 2-1 win at York City.
Boss Adam Murray is likely to make a number of changes as he looks to focus on the club’s League Two campaign.
