Shellshocked HUCKNALL TOWN RESERVES failed to bring any Christmas joy to the Watnall Road faithful in the Central Midlands League’s Reserves Premier Division.
Town have been enjoying a pleasing debut season since being formed in the summer, but were they given the runaround by Blidworth Welfare Reserves, who raced to a 7-1 victory.
Dean Robinson was on target for The Yellows, but Blidworth responded with a hat-trick from Jordan Simpson and two goals apiece from Craig Buchanan and Gaz Curtis.
Town duly dropped to fifth in the table, while the visitors leapt up to second and, on this evidence, look a good bet to go on and take the title.
TOWN’S first-team match last Saturday, away to Mickleover Royal British Legion in the Central Midlands League’s South Division, was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
