Shirebrook Town return to winning ways against Dronfield Town

After Saturday’s disappointing away defeat in the FA Vase, Shirebrook Town returned to winning ways with an emphatic 4-1 win over league newcomers Dronfield Town at Langwith Road on Tuesday night.

Shirebrook just edged the chances in a tight first half, but the final touch eluded them and the sides turned round 0-0 at half-time, with very little to separate them.

However, the second half was a much more open affair and Shirebrook raced into a 3-0 lead over a breathtaking six minute period with goals from Danny Claridge (56 minutes), Aaron Moxam (60 minutes) and Steve Wankiewicz (62 minutes).

Nevertheless, Daniel Wood reduced the deficit with a goal for Dronfield on 71 minutes, but that proved to be just a consolation when Craig Getliff restored Shirebrook’s three goal advantage three minutes from the end.

Shirebrook Town: McCormack, Cobley, Claridge, Booth, Wankiewicz, Henshaw, Thompson, Getliff, Moxam (R Camm 87 mins), Shepherd (Selvam 60 mins), Bacon (Wiltshire 87 mins).

Referee: Lee Freeman (South Yorkshire).

Attendance: 141.
