The title credentials of HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE RESERVES took another hit when they threw away a 3-0 lead to crash to defeat in the dying seconds at South Normanton Reserves in the Notts Senior League’s First Division.
Two goals from Matt Rick and one from fellow striker Andy Start in the opening 20 minutes gave Rolls a dream start . But they ended up losing 4-3 and although they remain third in the table, they have now lost three on the spin and have leaked 33 goals in their 13 matches to far this term.
Normanton began their fightback when Gaz Hayes conceded a penalty, and they were all-square at 3-3 by the end of a crazy forst half.
A change in formation enabled Rolls to restore control in the second period when both Start and player/manager Reece Jackson went close.
As the home side retaliated, a combination of good goalkeeping by Jake Pearson and brave defending looked sure to see out the draw -- until the last minute when the referee awarded a controversial second spot-kick that Normanton’s skipper tucked away to leave Rolls fuming.
