Praise has been heaped on head coach John Cheetham after another crop of youngsters graduated from the successful soccer school at the Rolls-Royce Leisure Club in Hucknall.
Ex-Hucknall Town player Cheetham runs the soccer school at Rolls every Sunday morning. And over the years, hundreds of under-sevens have learned the right skills and techniques to progress into playing friendly matches and, eventually, competitive football.
After the latest graduation, Rolls’s director of football, Jamie Brough said: “John’s dedication and commitment to coaching youngsters is something that the whole of Hucknall should be proud of.
“The Rolls soccer school is undoubtedly one of the best in the East Midlands. John, his volunteers and the many children who attend are an integral part of what Rolls is hoping to achieve over the coming years. We can’t thank him enough.”
Cheetham himself thanked his coaches, Richard Harrison, Gary Sucharewycz, James Sewell and Paul Jordan for their help with the latest batch of youngsters.
“I am pleased with the standard of kids who have graduated and hope their parents are very proud of how they have turned out,” he said.
“I would like to thank all the administration staff for their valuable voluntary work and the parents and grandparents who stand each week in all weather, watching the kids have fun with a football.
“Another flock has fled the nest. Now we are working hard with the next lot of kids and coaches ready for next year.
“Rolls is a great community place where children of all ages play football each week from August to May.
“I would also like to thank Elite Blinds for another season of sponsoring every team associated with Rolls-Royce juniors.”
This year’s successful children are: Jayden Parrott, Kian Brennan, Rocco Harrison, Jack Spick, Lewis Mead, Harrison Wilby, Aaron Sandhu, Jacob Sucharewycz, Niall Lester, Quaide Jones, Evan Jordan, Christopher Villiers, Keane Sewell, Benjamin Sackfield, Finley Moran, Bradley Mayoh, Joshan Chima and Will Thompson.
