As Mansfield Town prepare to unveil Steve Evans as their new manager this afternoon, the club’s Stags Supporters’ Association have thanked predecessor Adam Murray for his time at the club after his shock departure on Monday.
Colourful former Leeds, Rotherham and Crawley boss Evans is expected to be named the new Stags manager at a press conference at 3pm this afternoon.
Murray left the club on Monday night following a meeting with chairman John Radford with the club having only won once in 11 League games.
Murray had been in his third spell with the club and an SSA statement today said: “The SSA committee would like to place on record our sincere thanks to club legend Adam Murray for everything he has achieved for Mansfield Town FC during his lengthy spells at our club.
“Adam has provided some fantastic memories as a player, most famously fighting tooth and nail as proud captain of our Championship winning side to lift the trophy that delivered back our cherished Football League place.
“As the Stags manager memorable highlights included saving us from the drop zone in his first season in charge and his 100 per cent win record over three games in League competition against local rivals Notts County, especially the 5-0 demolition derby last season.
“SSA would like to wish Adam all the very best in his future career.”
