Mansfield Town supporters have the chance to meet the team and watch them train in Portugal tonight.

Hundreds of Stags fans are expected to make the trip over on a week that sees a training camp culminates with a friendly game against Dundee on Saturday evening.

But tonight, from 6pm, fans have been invited into an open training session at Amendoeira Golf Resort Sports Club, before having the chance for photo opportunities with the players.

Manager David Flitcroft hopes the session will act as inspiration to his players.

He said: “We came on the bus before the plane and the fans came over. They’ve been fantastic and the players have been great with them,” he said.

“It’s what you want to see. Supporters have spent money on their holiday to come here and we can have that contact time with them.

“Tonight we can share some time with them in the open training session.

“It’s brilliant for them. This will show the players why we do what we do, and why it’s going to be so tough this week.”

He added: “Fans commit, and they’ve committed to their family holidays to come out here.

“I’ll be stressing to the group that we’re lucky people to have people feel that about you.

“I’ve been a football fan myself and I know what I wanted from my team and my manager and staff. That’s what we’re hoping to do, to bring that together in this camp.”
