Striker Matt Rhead has today turned down a contract offer at Mansfield Town to sign for Conference Premier outfit Lincoln City.
The former Corby frontman (31), bagged 15 goals in 120 league appearances during a three-and-a-half-year spell at Mansfield. Stags’ manager Adam Murray said: “We offered a deal to Matt which we believed to be of good value for the football club and for what he brought to the team. “Matt has decided he wants to pursue his career elsewhere and has taken the decision to drop to the Conference. “We thank him for all his efforts whilst with the club.” Murray added: “This is a new era at the club, with a new vision, and the work continues behind the scenes to create our new squad.”
