The last game of HUCKNALL ROLLS LEISURE’S first season in the Central Midlands League’s South Division ended in a disappointing defeat.
A killer goal two minutes into injury-time by Guy Wilding condemned Rolls to a 2-1 reverse away to improved Derbyshire outfit, Swanwick Pentrich Road, which means they now look likely to finish tenth in the 15-team table.
Swanwick, who play on a very small pitch, boast a fine home record, and a strong wind added to Rolls’s problems in the first 25 minutes. They settled down to take the lead when Jack Smith was fouled for a penalty that Chay Bettridge converted. But as a poor, scrappy second half limped on, The Swans levelled when Shane Buckerfield was given time to finish after a long throw was not dealt with.
Brilliant saves denied Jack Allen and Josh Haskey as Rolls woke up. But the home team had the last word.
