The four Hucknall sides in Premier Division One of the Notts Sunday Morning League were all quick on the draw -- including local-derby rivals, THE EMPIRE and ATHLETICO T8’S.

Empire and Athletico shared a 2-2 scoreline in a topsy-turvy encounter, to mirror stalemates also involving AFC H2O and BARFLYS H2O.

Alec Morton’s header gave Empire a first-half lead. But the visitors came more into it after the interval and two fine strikes by Martyn Smith edged them in front. First a spectacular cross-cum-shot from way out on the left flew into the far top corner, and then Smith struck again with a sweetly-placed left-footer from 25 yards. However, the home side salvaged a point with only three minutes remaining when Michael South latched on to a well-flighted free-kick to fire home from a tight angle and deny Athletico only their third win of the campaign.

AFC H2O were locked in a six-goal thriller at home to MIS United, who twice led through Brad Ellis and Greg Ellis. The Hucknall side kept fighting back and earned a share of the spoils with strikes from Rory Smith, Ashley Foster and Greg Conn.

Barflys’ excellent 1-1 draw at high-riding Edwalton was only their fifth point in nine games all season. But it was enough to lift them off the bottom of the table, with Matthew Moult bagging their crucial goal after Frazer White had given the third-placed hosts the lead.

In the Premier Premier Division, HUCKNALL TOWN SUNDAY threw away a 3-0 lead, supplied by Mike Randall, Danny Draycott and Nathan Lovett, to go down 4-3 away to ACAF Sycamore Saints. Tyrell Shannon-Lewis pulled a goal back before the break before a hat-trick that included the 86th minute winner from Raheem Gordon.

Lower down the league, the Senior Third Division leaders Strelley were too strong for AFC DOWHAN, easing to a 4-0 victory to extend their unbeaten record to 13 games.
