Three changes for Stags in Checkatrade tester

A strong Mansfield Town side showed only three changes as they returned to high-flying Carlisle United, scene of a 5-2 beating in their last League game 10 days ago, for tonight's Checkatrade Trophy second round tie.

Although he had vowed he wanted to win the tie and progress, Stags boss Steve Evans said he would be making changes to look at fringe players.

In the end he only made the three as CJ Hamilton, James Baxendale and Ashley Hemmings came in for Mitch Rose, Oscar Gobern and Pat Hoban.

Young striker Zaynb Hakeem was among the Mansfield substitutes.

Keith Curle made six changes from the United side knocked out of the FA Cup by Rochdale on Saturday with Charlie Wyke, who bagged a hat-trick against Stags in that last outing, one of those rested to the bench.
