Centre half Buxton, who joined the Rams in 2009, is said to be deep in talks over a two-year deal with the League One champions and it could be signed and sealed within the next 24 hours.

Many Rams fans are said to be disappointed the club would let the experienced Sutton-born defender go.

Buxton played over 160 games for Mansfield, but left after relegation to the Conference in 2007/08 to join Burton Albion.
