VIDEO: Watch as Stags duo offer words of wisdom to school pupils

The duo, who were joined by the club’s furry mascot Sammy the Stag, coached a range of football skills to the pupils, and afterwards answered questions from the school children.

The club were also pleased to supply 60 tickets for the Stags’ home game against Stevenage on 29 October for the children who took part as well as some of the school’s teachers.

The event was organised by construction company Robert Woodhead Limited and electrical contractors Lukes & Godwin as part of the companies’ commitment to the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) and providing opportunities for young people to learn new skills.

Stags’ striker Danny Rose said: “We thank Robert Woodhead Ltd and Lukes & Godwin for inviting us along - we had a great time coaching the children at All Saints’ Academy!

“This visit will act as the launching pad for many more trips to local schools, where we will aim to develop pupils’ skills and give back to the communities that support us week in, week out.

“As an institution at the heart of Mansfield, we pride ourselves on our continuing involvement in the community.”

Robert Woodhead Limited is an Associate Member of the CCS and recently the framework organisation empa has joined as Client Partners.

Woodhead’s Site Manager, Chris Strazd, said: “The work we have done will improve the students’ experience this winter with brand new windows and doors improving the warmth and energy efficiency of the building.

“It’s really important to us at Woodhead to make sure we have an impact wherever we work on the community we work with.

“We’re very grateful to Lukes & Godwin, and to Mansfield Town FC for working with us to provide the pupils with this opportunity. I hope they enjoyed it!”

Woodhead Education, one of the company’s specialist construction teams is currently working on a £280,000 project to enhance the Mansfield school, replacing external windows and doors, as well as a number of remedial works and new lighting.

Woodhead has been working alongside electrical partner contractor, Lukes & Godwin, to complete the project, which was procured through the East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) framework.

Both companies have worked collaboratively on a number of successful projects, delivering the work on time and on budget.
