Basford United climbed to third in the Northern Premier League after beating Bamber Bridge 3-0 on Saturday.
Nat Watson opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark with a well-taken free-kick.
And Ash Worsfold soon doubled the lead with a true striker’s finish when he poked home Dom Roma’s low cross.
Watson then bagged his 10th goal of the season to wrap up the win.
The visitors started the brightest of the two sides and had the first chance of the game when Danny Forbes fired an effort towards the Basford net, but goalkeeper Kieran Preston was equal to it.
The home side had the ball in the back of the net after 15 minuts when Worsfold diverted Kane Richard’s cross past ‘keeper Danny Roccia, only to be flagged offside.
But Basford hit the front when top scorer Watson curled a stunning free-kick into the top corner, the ball hitting the post before nestling into the net.
Worsfold doubled the lead just six minutes later, reacting quickest to convert Roma’s cross at the near post.
Bamber piled on the pressure in the second half, with Basford happy to sit back and soak it up.
Danny Wilson’s long-range effort was the most dangerous chance created, but Preston pulled off another great save to preserve the clean sheet.
And Watson sealed the win with two minutes left.
Jack Thomas picked the ball up just inside his own half and went on a marauding run, all the way to the Bamber box before playing in Watson who took one touch and volleyed confidently past Roccia.
