A wonder goal from fully 30 yards by Ant Wallis capped a stirring fightback by LINBY COLLIERY WELFARE RESERVES in the Notts Senior League’s Senior Division.

In a repeat of their dramatic Junior Cup final against Radcliffe Olympic Reserves last season, Linby looked to be heading for defeat when trailing 2-0 to sloppy goals at half-time, courtesy of individual errors.

But the recovery was launched by leading scorer Luke Price, who struck twice with excellently-taken efforts in the second half.

And it was capped by talented utility player Wallis, who let rip from long range to bag a magnificent matchwinner and recall the days as a youngster when he attracted the interest of Nottingham Forest.

The denouement was almost as exciting as the cup final when Linby also came from behind to beat Radcliffe 4-1 and win the club’s first major trophy for 17 years.
