Future of Sutton Swimming Club looks bright after latest gala win

Sutton SC hosted the Nottinghamshire ASA Stage 1 gala at the Lammas leisure centre on Saturday and came away victorious.

This is a competition for swimmers aged eight years to 11 years with a restriction that prevents swimmers competing that have previously achieved a regional qualifying time.

Sutton SC finished the 2013 gala programme off with another fine victory adding to their fantastic winning streak and to their trophy cabinet.

With two of their eight year old boy swimmers - Michael Senior and Archie White - making their debut for the club in a competitive gala against other clubs the nerves were running high. But once they hit the pool then their early promise shone through with some fantastic swims.

At the midway point in the gala after some 21 events Sutton SC were in the lead by just seven points.

The second half of the competition saw Sutton SC go on a winning streak that saw them win comfortably in the end by some 39 points.

Sutton SC won an incredible 32 events on the night from the 41 events and finished runners up in a further five of these events.

Other teams competing on the night were Arnold SC (2nd), Carlton SC (3rd), Southwell SC (4th) and Chesterfield SC (5th)

The future of Sutton SC certainly looks very promising with the numbers of younger members significantly increasing and the hard work of the coaching team being matched by the effort of our swimmers in training all culminating in superb performances in local competitions.
