Hucknall sport is likcing its lips at the prospect of the Commonwealth Games, which get under way in Glasgow next week.
For both gymnast Becky Downie and athlete Andy Turner are in the England team -- and gunning for gold!
Downie (22) competes in the individual and team sections of the artistic gymnastics, which takes place from Monday 28th July to Friday 1st August.
She is in the form of her life after becoming only the second British woman to win an inidvidual gold medal at the European Championships.
Turner (33) has been hampered by injury problems, and is fighting to be fully fit in time for Glasgow games. But if all goes to plan, he will be lining up on Tuesday 29th July to defend the Commonwealth 110m hurdles title he won in Delhi four years ago.
He received a massive boost this week when he was selected as the third British hurdler for the team to Zurich for the European Athletics Championships next month. The other two are Will Sharman and Lawrence Clarke.
DON’T miss next Friday’s Dispatch for a full preview of the Glasgow glory-hunt by Turner and Downie.
