Hucknall tennis star Freya Christie has been given a wild card entry to take part in the qualifying stages for this year’s Wimbledon.
Christie, 18, has taken part in the junior championships at Wimbledon before and also won the Road to Wimbledon event when she was 12-years-old, but this will be her first attempt at entering the main draw.
Qualifying for the tournament will b egin on June 20 with the championships beginning a week later.
More news on her opponent in the qualifying draw will appear in due course.
Last week, Christie made her WTA Tour debut at the 2016 Aegon Open in Nottingham, losing in the first round to China’sZheng Saisai, 6–4, 6–2, and also being beaten in the doubles alongside Laura Robson.
