Linby CW on lookout for new boss as Marlow heads to Arnold

Marlow has guided Linby to 13th place so far in the CMFL South campaign and will remain in his position until the summer.

But he will then make the move to East Midlands Counties League side Arnold who currently it second from bottom in the table.

Marlow said: “I’d decided earlier in the year that I wanted a fresh challenge and would leave Linby at the end of the season.

“I told the club last month so they had time to get the wheels in motion to find a replacement, and I’m delighted they’re doing so.

“At the time I had no other job lined up but when the chance to apply for the Arnold position came up I thought it was a great opportunity to manage at a slightly higher level and I’m excited by the challenge.

“I’m really proud of what has been achieved at Linby over my five years here. I took over a club that had finished bottom of the Notts Senior League with seven points and since then we’ve achieved a great deal.

“It will be really hard to leave as there are so many great people here and the fans are fantastic too. Even my seven-year-old son didn’t want me to leave as he’s been coming here since he was three for a few hours each Saturday and loves it as well!

“But I feel it’s the right time and I hope the club will continue its progress and keep bringing young players through as has been the case in the last few years.

“I wish them all the best going forward and hope to pop back regularly to see them play.”

Welfare club secretary Adrian Ward said: “Everybody at the club wishes Dave good luck in his new venture and would like to thank him for his outstanding contributions over the last five seasons .

“Dave has certainly put Linby back onto the local footballing map, giving us all some fantastic memories along the way. We hope to continue his good work in nurturing young local football talent and to keep Dave’s legacy going .

“Dave will certainly be remembered as one of Linby’s best managers for his part in resurrecting the club over the past five years.”

The club would prefer applicants to have had experience at Central Midlands League level or higher, but will consider all candidates.

Linby Colliery Welfare is an established Central Midlands League Club with a strong youth structure to back up its first team , which next season will include a reserve team, two U18 teams and an U16 team.

The club also has ground development plans in place which have passed the relevant planning applications, that include a new dressing room/clubhouse complex and the moving and widening of the main pitch and floodlights .
