Masters bronze for Johnson

Mansfield Harriers international runner Mark Johnson claimed sixth place overall in 32.11 which was enough to secure the bronze medal in the M40 category at the Grand East Anglia Run\British Masters 10km Championships in Kings Lynn.

Club mate Andrew Wilson secured another top 40 placing with 35.13, while Brian Harris ran a superb time of 40.54 for a silver medal in M65 category and Denise Winfield beat her personal best time with 54.44.

Round Two of the AAA’s Summer Road Race League series took place at The National Watersports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, and saw a repeat of the first round with another phenomenal 1-2-3 for the Harriers, in which Stuart King was the winner, followed by James Mee and the ever-present Mark Johnson in third.

The opening Booth Decorators Summer League meeting at Teversal Grange saw 292 runners from 11 clubs take part. Sutton Harriers times and positions were:

Four members of Sutton Harriers ran the Wollaton Park 10k race with several hundred others runners.

Amanda Alletson was the first Harrier to finish in 50mins 12secs.

Next was Ken Hensby (70+) 53m 59s followed by St Mark’s Church, Sutton, vicar David James, in 55m 33s and finally finishing in under 60 minutes Stephen Saunders in 59m 59s.
