Back from the grave to win tournament

DEFEAT in their opening match didn’t deter the footballers of ROLLS-ROYCE UNDER-11 GIRLS as they started the close-season in style by winning the Cotgrave Colts Tournament.

In a tight group, the youngsters bounced back with a 1-0 win in their second game, followed by two stalemate 0-0 draws.

It left them needing a win in their final group outing to secure a place in the semi-finals. They duly fulfilled the brief by beating hosts Cotgrave 1-0 with a smart finish from Shannon Craske after a pass from Kara Shore.

In a deadlocked semi, it was down to the dreaded penalty shootout. Hannah Mollett, Jasmin Hallam and Georgia Duvell kept their nerve to net for the locals and ‘keeper Neve Jones became the hero by saving a sudden-death spot-kick to book their ticket to the final.

Small margins made all the difference in the final against Southwell, but it was Rolls who came out on top with the only goal of the game coming from Jas Hallam.
