FISHING fanatic Dave Williams, of Hucknall, seems to have passed his skills with the rod on to his children.

For the 50-year-old, of Stainsborough Road, was joined by his youngsters, 13-year-old James and eight-year-old Zoe, for a trip to France where the trio enjoyed a successful time on the banks.

Fishing Rouge Lake in Limoges, the Williamses recorded several personal-best (PB) catches.

Zoe landed her heaviest cat fish, which came in at 20lb, while she also landed eight carp, including a 22lb common variety and a 30lb mirror specimen, which were both PBs.

James impressed with 14 carp ranging in weight up to 32lb 14oz, plus a PB catfish of a staggering 55lb.

As for Dave, he hooked a total of 26 carp, ranging in weight up to 32lb 4oz.

His bag included two carp in excess of 30lb and 21 in excess of 20lb.

But his star catch was a 61lb catfish, which beat his previous PB. What’s more, Dave and James even managed to catch the same fish — three days apart!

Said Dave: “We fished various spots but predominantly the dam-wall margin in depths of water ranging from three feet to 22 feet and the bottom of the dam wall. We used bait from the Aquabait stable.”
