Blewitt didn’t blow it

FISHERMAN Dave Blewitt certainly didn’t live up to his surname when he held out to take HUCKNALL ANGLING CLUB’S latest match by just six ounces on the Horse Shoe Lake at Birch House, Derbyshire.

He clocked up 78lb 2oz as closes rival, Dave Wright, finished on 77-12.

Other weights recorded were: Barry Blewitt 56-14, Rob Lewis 54-12, Barrie Robinson 24-8, Steve Knighton 21-0, Mick Stanley 7-4, Derek Alcock 6-0.

Their next match is on Sunday at Shearsby Valley, Lutterworth.

THE MAIN man in HUCKNALL ANGLERS’ Sunday match at Woodhouse Farm, Longford Fishery in Derbyshire was Russ Tideswell, with a weight of 55lb 13oz.

He was comfortably ahead of second-placed Alan Birch (53-3) and Arthur Daws (52-8).

SMALL weights they might have been, but it didn’t matter to Arthur Lovatt as he won the club’s latest Thursday match at Forge Mills, Bestwood Village.

With 3lb 2oz he outgunned Ray Pickin and Darren Smith in joint second with 2-2.
