The final of the HUCKNALL EPA POOL LEAGUE’S Knockout Cup final will be contested by Spot-On Low-C and Station Hotel (Hucknall) B.

Low-C, who are also chasing the league title, edged past Bestwood Village Social Club in a thrilling semi-final. While Station B wasted no time in whitewashing fellow high-riders Empire A 4-0 in the other tie.

Remarkably, both wins were triggered by opening-leg triumphs by the Butler brothers.

David ‘Diddy’ Butler started the ball rolling for Station B by defeating Joe Etherington.

Paddy McShane then beat Craig Johnstone before the victory was completed by victories for Alan Foster and Andrea Green.

Low-C were handed a fine start by Danny Butler. But Bestwood fought back to lead 2-1 with wins over Ryan Norris and Scott Oxford. And although Simon Moralee and Geoff Taylor restored the visitors’ lead, the tie went to the last leg when Alan Allsopp beat Lee Carrington. At 3-3, Tim Hudson kept his nerve to settle it.

The two semi-finals were also played in the B Cup, which is for teams knocked out in the First Round of the main competition. Green Dragon beat The Chequers 4-2 and Liberal Club shaded Royal British Legion B 4-3.
