Captain Andy Paulson led by example with a haul of 11 wickets as PAPPLEWICK AND LINBY 3RD’S season sprang to life with two wins over the Bank Holiday weekend in Division Six of the Bassetlaw League.
Last Saturday, Paulson returned spectacular figures of 7-36 from 12 overs as Papplewick rolled out Bilsthorpe for 118 after making only 132 themselves, with Kris Barfield top-scoring on 30. The home side lost their last seven wickets for just 43 runs.
Papplewick followed up by beating Teversal by 24 runs on Monday, with Paulson taking 4-38 in 9.5 overs and son Sam hitting 63 (six fours) with the bat. Paulson jnr’s exit sparked a collapse from 133-2 to 175 all out, despite 38 from Adam Bettridge and 24 from Antony Woolley. But Teversal were reduced to 20-5 by Neil South (4-31 in 13 overs) and Paulson snr finished them off after a recovery by Andy Freeman (68, nine fours) and Ian Brailsford (52, six fours), who shared 96 for the sixth wicket.
