CHAMPIONS Rolls-Royce brought the curtain down on the 2012 season in style with a 66-run victory at Clifton.
Rolls won the toss, decided to bat and got off to a great start with openers Wasim Karim (73) and Mathew Roberts (64) piling the runs on.
Support came from Abdul Sultan (10), Rahim Karim (24), Shaharyar Aslam (21) and Arslan Butt who finished unbeaten on 43.
The tail wavered slightly with Waheed Khan (0), Husnain Riaz run out 9 and Navid Kanwal six not out but a big score was already assured as they finished on 262-8 from their 50 overs.
For Clifton, David McDermott was the top wicket-taker with 3-62. The only other wickets to be claimed went to Richard McDermott (2-60) and Jamie Dickinson (2-47) but all of the visiting bowlers took some stick.
In reply, Clifton only had three batsmen able to reach double figures with opener Richard Harrison hitting 40, James Hollingsworth 35 and Paul Macmillan topping the scores with 64 as they were dismissed for 196 off 42.2 overs.
For Rolls, the wickets were shared around between Aslam (3-44), Karim (3-39), Kanwal (2-47) and Riaz 2-49 from five overs!
