THREE young Hucknall cricketers are recovering after they were involved in a car crash on their way home from a match.

Josh Buckley, Adam Scott and Harry Finch had been playing for Hucknall in a Mansfield Sunday League, Premier Section match in Sheffield against Millhouses Works.

Buckley (20), who is the club’s professional, was driving when another car suddenly pulled out in front of them at a set of traffic lights.

The accident was witnessed by teammates in other cars who were travelling in convoy back to Hucknall.

The trio were taken to hospital, where Buckley and Scott (22) were detained overnight. Finch (16), who was a backseat passenger, was allowed home after tests.

Club secretary Nigel Lobb told the Dispatch: “Thankfully it was not as bad as first feared.

“They are all out of hospital now. Nothing is broken. It’s more a case of bruising, shock and being shaken up.”

Fast bowler Buckley has made a big impression since joining from Eastwood Town after Hucknall were promoted to the top division of the Gunn And Moore South Notts League last season.

Spinner Scott is also a key member of the first team, while Finch is one of the club’s up-and-coming youngsters.
