A NEW season of county darts began at Hucknall’s Rolls-Royce Leisure Club — and ended with a fine victory for Nottinghamshire.
After finishing mid-table last season, Notts remain in Division Two of the British Inter-Counties Championship.
And their home fixtures at Rolls opened with a 23-13 success over Somerset, who were relegated from Division One last term.
On the Saturday, the men’s B squad enjoyed a tidy 7-5 win, while the ladies’ B team were held to a 3-3 draw.
And on the Sunday, the men’s A side romped to an amazing 12-0 victory to make up for a 5-1 defeat for the ladies’ A squad.
Paul Harvey took the men’s A man-of-the-match award with a fantastic 3-0 win and a 31.31 average, although England international Jay Foreman (3-0 and 30.67) also shone.
Notts’s next match is away to Warwickshire on October 8 and 9. Their other matches at Rolls are against Berkshire on November 19 and 20, Northamptonshire on January 28 and 29, Suffolk on March 3 and 4 and Middlesex on April 28 and 29.
