Derbyshire are out to stop the world’s number one-ranked Twenty20 batsman Aaron Finch in his tracks when they host Yorkshire in a NatWest T20 Blast showdown at Queen’s Park, Chesterfield on Sunday.

The Australia international hit a world-record 156 off just 63 balls in a Twenty20 international against England last year and has established a reputation as one of the games most powerful hitters.

But elite performance director Graeme Welch is looking forward to the challenge against the powerful right-hander and a talented Vikings side.

“Games against Yorkshire at Chesterfield are great occasions for Derbyshire supporters,” he said.

“It will be good for the lads to play in front of a big crowd and hopefully that can spur them on.

“We’ve had a tough campaign, but the lads are still working hard and will keep fighting.

“Yorkshire have an explosive team full of internationals, including Aaron Finch. They’re a very dangerous side and we will need to be on our game. It’s a great challenge for us.

“Victories over Yorkshire are always sweet, so we hope to put one over them on Sunday for our members and supporters.”

Tickets for the game are available on the day, but savings of up to £4 per ticket are available by buying in advance.

The match gets underway at 2.30pm with supporters from both sides of the border set to pack out one of first-class cricket’s most picturesque venues.

Derbyshire County Cricket Club and national charity Heart Research UK are urging supporters to don the charity colours red and/or purple ato the game to raise awareness for the charity.

More than 1,500 Cricket Derbyshire Helping Hearts wristbands have already been distributed to ticket buyers and plenty more will be available at the ground, alongside opportunities to donate to the charity.
