FRUSTRATION and relief were just two of the emotions in full flow as the battle for the HUCKNALL WINTER DOMINOES LEAGUE title took yet another twist.
Long-time leaders Talk Of The Town have looked cast-iron certainties too take the prize for some time now.
But they looked to be set to fall off their perch in the latest set of matches when they went down to a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of third-placed Shamrock.
But they were left breathing a huge sigh of relief after Station Hotel (Newstead), who would have gone top with victory over Crafty Conny, went down to a damaging 3-2 reverse.
Now, with just three matches to play, Town are in the ascendancy, but by just two points.
Elsewhere, bottom-of-the-table Empire Strikes Back overcame Conny A 3-2 – the same scoreline by which Bestwood Village Social Club saw off Bentinck Club in a mid-table clash.
Little John also collected a 3-2 victory at the expense of George Street Working Men’s Club B.
The biggest success of the week was reserved for second-from-bottom Royal British Legion, who registered a surprise 5-0 whitewash of high-riding Station Hotel (Hucknall) B.
