AFTER an unprecedented summer of sport that has been dominated by ‘Team GB’, a teacher based in Bulwell is aiming for her own golden moment — by taking on some of the world’s best bodybuilders.
For Caroline ‘Cee’ Oliver has been selected for a Great Britain team to compete in the International Federation of Bodbybuilding (IFBB) world championships for fitness in Poland next month (October 6 and 7).
What’s more, the 37-year-old, who teaches at Bulwell Academy on Hucknall Lane, has also been picked to represent her country in a competition that comes under the name of former Mr Olympia and ‘Terminator’ star Arnold Schwarzenegger — the Arnold Amateur IFBB International Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure and Bikini Championships.
This competition will take place in Madrid, Spain, and will also be next month (October 12 and 13).
“In what has been an unbelievable year with the Olympics and the Paralympics, it is great to hear I have been selected for my international team,” said Cee.
“With one of the competitions being associated with Arnold Schwarzenegger, it is fantastic.
“There is not long to go now and I am so excited.”
Cee, who is married to Ricky and has an eight-year-old son, Rio, lives in Arnold.
She previously taught PE at the former Henry Mellish Comprehensive School in Bulwell before it amalgamated with the ex-River Leen Comprehensive to become the Academy.
She only took up bodybuilding in mid-2008 after being inspired to do so by her cousin, bodybuilder Denton Wilson.
Her ultimate ambition is to become the best in the world in her category and weight division.
She is so dedicated that she trains at least three times a week after teaching at the Academy and lives her life to a strict regime, with a calorie-controlled diet packed with protein and full of fish and vegetables.
Other upcoming competitions on the horizon for Cee include the British Championships in Manchester at the end of October and another version of the bodybuilding world championships in November.
