A CLUB in the Dispatch district is involved in a new campaign aimed at persuading more people to take up the sport of golf.
Budding Bubba Watsons or Lee Westwoods should pop along to the Bulwell Forest Golf Club to catch up with the Get Into The Swing campaign.
It has been expanded this year to offer a wide variety of sessions — for players of all ages and abilities.
The Bulwell Forest club is running coaching sessions for ladies only, as well open sessions for all adult players aged 16 and over.
The schedule provides weekly one-hour group-lessons, delivered by high-quality Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) coaches. The cost is £20 for four ladies’ sessions or five adult sessions.
So far more than 200 people from across the county have taken part at various clubs — and the feedback has been excellent.
The Get Into The Swing courses welcome complete beginners, so it’s a fantastic chance to give a new sport a try.
Matthew Bloor, county development officer for the Nottinghamshire County Golf Partnership, urged locals to make the most of the benefits playing golf can bring.
“The campaign has been a great success,” said Bloor. “Golf clubs have provided a friendly and welcoming environment to learn the game.
“The coaching sessions also offer the chance to make new friends and enjoy an active social life.”
