A six-wicket haul by Jimmy Guthrie was not enough to earn HUCKNALL 3RD victory against fellow early-season high-fliers, Young Lions, in Division H of the Gunn And Moore South Notts League.
Introduced as first change, Guthrie returned figures of 6-53 from 12 overs to help bowl out the Clifton-based home side for 187.
However, that total would have been much less but for a late 56 from number nine bat Haljeet Swali, whose runs, allied to an earlier 30 from opener Sanjay Singh Potiwal, made all the difference in the end.
When Hucknall replied, Swali took the key wicket of opener Ian Lobb, and the run chase never got off the ground. Ross Brown did make 17 and James Easom 16, but the best contribution came from the extras column (28) as the locals sank to 124 all out, with Hiren Naik taking 3-20 in six overs.
