Henshaw gold spearheads Edgewood judo spree

Eight medals, including a gold, were gained by members of the Hucknall-based EDGEWOOD JUDO CLUB at the annual Nottinghamshire Closed Championships.

Nathan Henshaw struck gold in the yellow/orange belt under-30kg category.

Reece Wright (red belt under-27kg category) and Jai Raison (orange/green belt under-42kg) won silver medals.

And there were bronzes for Ciaran Wright (red belt under-27kg), Curtis Flint (yellow/orange belt under-30kg), Benjamin Watkin (yellow belt under-40kg), Dylan Green (yellow belt under-46kg) and Alisha Norman (red/yellow belt under-52kg).

Meanwhile no fewer than 17 Edgewood judokas achieved new promotions at a British Judo Association technical grading session, held at the club last Sunday. They were:

James Heathcote (12th mon, green belt and three tags); Daniel Khiari (11th mon, green belt and two tags); Oskar Wrzesniewski (10th mon, green belt and one tag); Ethan Gascoigne and Molly Pullen (8th mon, orange belt and two tags); Aaron Rogers and Callum Smoczyk (yellow belt and three tags); Dylan Green (5th mon, yellow belt and two tags); Heather Daniels, Jessica Daniels, Harry Orton, Ellise Palmer and Emile Palmer (3rd mon, red belt and three tags).

Bethany Compton and Alisha Norman (2nd mon, red belt and two tags); Taylor Barker and Jamie Easom (1st mon, red belt and one tag).
