A GOLFER from Hucknall who reached the final of a nationwide amateur tournament will have his fortunes broadcast on Sky Sports next Monday (19th).
Carl Powell, 41, who is a member of Ormonde Fields Golf Club in Codnor but who lives and works in Hucknall, plays off a handicap of one and battled through ten national rounds to get to the final of the William Hunt Trilby Tour held at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire.
The Trilby Tour is a multi-event amateur golf tournament created by William Hunt in 2007 where amateurs compete under professional conditions for the chance to win the top ‘winner takes all’ prize.
It has since grown at an incredible pace to become the biggest and most stylish amateur golf tournament in the UK, with each round broadcast as part of a summer series on Sky Sports and with the top prize going to the winner of the final event.
The programme will be broadcast on Sky Sports 4 on Monday night at 7pm.
Powell performed well in the event, though his final placing cannot be revealed until the programme has gone out.
We’ll have reaction from Carl on his experience of the event in next week’s Dispatch.
