A rider from Hucknall was one of the stars of the show when a huge crowd turned up for the second round ofg the Darley Moor Motorcyle Road Race Club in Derbyshire.

Dean Ephgrave competed in the Steel Framed 600 section and finished an excellent third behind Richard Stubbs, of Stone, Anthony Porter, of Chesterfield, to leave him 21 points and in second spot in the championship standings.

In a 21-race programme, Ephgrave took part in a combined race with riders on Pre Injection (PI) 600 machines and led early on. He dropped to third as Stubbs, on a PI bike, set sail for home, and the Hucknall man looked to be struggling to peg back Porter.

However, Ephgravet made a huge effort on the final lap and ended up within 0.7 seconds of the winner at the flag.

The third round of the popular championship takes place at the beginning of next month.
