Hucknall’s Nathan Henshaw gets third place at British Schools Midland Area Judo Trials

Nathan Henshaw, of Hucknall’s Edgewood Judo Club, came third in the British Schools Midland Area Trials in Nottingham.

Nathan secured his bronze mendal after fighting in the years 6 and 7 under 34kg category.

Sisters Emile and Ellise Palmer, Phoebe Woodhouse-James and Samuel Watkin travelled to Leicester for the Southfields Invitation Championships.

All three girls fought in the Primary under 26kg category with Ellise coming out on top by claiming the gold medal, while Emile took the silver medal. But Phoebe narrowly missed the medals as she finished in fifth place.

Samuel made his competitive debut in the Primary under 30kg category and put in a good performance.

Phoebe Woodhouse-James was the club’s only representative at the Nottingham Red Belt Rumble, where she claimed a bronze medal in the under 24kg category.

Ten of the club’s judokas achieved new grades after taking part in a BJA Technical Grading held at Skegby Judo Club.

6th Mon (yellow belt +3 tags) - Leah Morgan

2nd Mon (red belt +2 tags) - Cody Hoyland & Gracie Sadler
