Long-standing member Arthur Daws proved he’s still got what it takes when dominating HUCKNALL ANGLERS FISHING CLUB’S latest Sunday match.
Daws ran away with victory on the Oak lake at the Beechwood Caravan Park at Thulston near Derby, bagging a haul that weighed in at 89lb 6oz. In second place was Dennis Hall with 52-10, followed by Rob Daws on 39-10. Other results were:
Pat Hall 32-9, Andy Davis 32-5, Derek Brough 30-8, Dave Clarke 25-13, Brad Livock 21-9, George Woodings 21-2, Brian Cross 18-2, Alan Birch 15-9, Ray Pickin 14-5, Dudley Young 14-2, Darren Davis 11-3, Tom Bakewell 8-7, Danny Hill did not weigh and Danny Giles did not weigh.
The club’s next Sunday match is at Awsworth Canal this weekend. The draw is to be made at 8 am at the Cattery End car park.
Meanwhile Hucknall Anglers’ headquarters, at Forge Mills Lake in Bestwood Village, hosted their latest Thursday night fixture, which resulted in a tie for first place between Brian Cross and Pat Hall.
Weights were miniscule, however, with both recording a paltry 2lb, ahead of Darren Smith on 1-4, Arthur Lovatt 1-10, Brian Davenport 1-8, Ray Pickin 1-3 and Dave Wayte 0-5.
COLIN Robinson must have regretted going home early from peg four in the latest HUCKNALL TOWN ANGLING CLUB match on the Canal lake at Portland Waters, near Newark. For the anglers either side of him finished first and second!
Steve Knighton fished meat at the far bank to take carp to 8lb and win with 93lb 1oz, while Mark Saunders also caught sizeable lumps, fishing paste, to record 77lb.
Third-placed Baz Blewitt (62-3) also enjoyed a good last couple of hours, while Reece Akin, on peg one, weighed in a carp at 13lb 1oz as part of his catch of 42-9. Other weights were: Tony Beastall 36-2, Russ Tideswell 34-0, Dave Wright 29-5, Alan Lucas 16-5, Craig Akin 13-7 and Trevor Tideswell 12-2.
JOHN White was the winner of a match at Goosedale, Bestwood Village for the Hucknall-based KINGFISHER ANGLING CLUB. White’s weight of 11lb 4oz enabled him to land a tight contest from Pete Dudley 10-4, Fred Hickling 9-8, Don Hoy 6-10, Martin Hoy 4-4, Steve Walters 3-9 and Ray Tongue 1-8.
