JUDO: golden comeback by coach Jones

ASSISTANT coach Mark Jones made a remarkable comeback to action when representing the Hucknall-based Edgewood Judo Club at the Nottingham Kyu Grade Championships.

Fighting for the first time in five years, Jones won all four of his contests with the maximum ippon score in the under-81kg category. It earned him 30 points towards his dan grade in the process.

Meanwhile, in the Nottingham Mini-Mon Championships, Edgewood’s Katie Williams made her competitive debut in the under-57kg category.

And two of the club’s judokas, Jai Raison and Daniel Varnam, both took part in the latest training session for the Nottinghamshire county squad.

Edgewood train every Monday evening at Edgewood Leisure Centre in Hucknall. If you fancy joining, ring Steve on 0115 9521346.
