Two teenage swimmers from Hucknall have taken the Midland ASA Championships by storm.
Tom Howarth (18) and Kyle Raison (16) were part of a five-strong contingent from the Hucknall Falcon club who competed in the championships, held at the East Midlands International Pool in Corby.
Howarth won silver in the final of the men’s 17-and-over 50m breaststroke, beaten only by the world record holder, 20-year-old Adam Peaty, who is Team GB’s new swimming sensation.
And Raison won a bronze medal in the final of the 16-year-old men’s 50m butterfly, finishing less than a second behind the winner, Mark Laing, of Halesowen.
The other Falcon swimmers to perform well at Corby were Sam Murden, Ben Canavan-Taylor and Amelia Sale.
Said the club’s head coach Ian Melvin: “This is a great success for such a small club. I am very proud.”
