Impressive HUCKNALL FALCON bagged a huge haul of 53 medals, which included ten victories, when they contested the Ripley Rascals Open Meet at the Arc Leisure pool in Matlock.
Falcon’s squad also clocked 34 personal-best (PB) times at the meet, which gave swimmers a golden chance to improve on their performances.
Swimmers were seeded according to their entry times, which meant they competed against others of the same ability.
Results were determined by the fastest times in the heats, and medals were awarded for the top six places.
Falcon’s roll call of first places was headed by senior girls’ captain Sophie Melvin, who landed a hat-trick in the 15-year-olds’ 200m individual medley, 200m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke.
Doubles were registered by Benjamin Canavan-Taylor (in the 15-year-old boys’ 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke) and by George Webster (in the 12-year-old boys’ 200m breaststroke and 50m backstroke).
The club’s other three wins were celebrated by senior boys’ captain Sam Murden (15-year-olds’ 50m breaststroke), Jai Raison (13-year-old boys’ 50m butterfly) and Finley Ellis (nine-year-old boys’ 50m backstroke).
Falcon also recorded no fewer than 14 runners-up placings. These were achieved by: Sam Murden (15-year-old boys’ 200m individual medley, 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle), Emma Hutson (14-year-old girls’ 200m backstroke), Jai Raison (13-year-old boys’ 50m backstroke), Finley Ellis (nine-year-old boys’ 200m individual medley).
Grace Allsop (12-year-old girls’ 200m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke), Elise Connor (13-year-old girls’ 50m breaststroke and 50m butterfly), Sophie Melvin (15-year-old girls’ 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly) and Adam Webber (14-year-old boys’ 50m butterfly).
