Proud HUCKNALL FALCON are celebrating a memorable victory in the First Round of the national swimming league at Bramcote Leisure Centre.

Taking part this year in Division Three East of the West Midlands section of the league, Falcon came out on top in a five-team gala, recording 13 victories, 18 second places and ten personal-best times.

“What a night!” exclaimed head coach, Ian Melvin. “It’s a really positive result, especially as the team can only get stronger and fitter as the season goes on. Clear your diaries for the Second Round, which is on Saturday 8th November!”

Falcon’s parade of wins was led by Amelia Sale, who completed a hat-trick in the girls’ open 200m individual medley and the girls’ 15-and-under 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle.

Sale was also part of the victorious girls’ open 4X50m medley relay team, alongside Emma Hutson, Chloe Melvin and senior girls’ captain Sophie Melvin.

Further relay successes were secured by the boys’ open 4X50m medley squad of Ben Canavan-Taylor, James Terry, Sam Murden and Kyle Raison and the boys’ open 6X50m freestyle relay sextet of Kyle Raison, Terry, Harvey Green, Nathaniel Wood, Murden and Canavan-Taylor.

Other individual wins were achieved by: Raison (boys’ 15-and-under 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle), senior boys’ captain Murden (boys’ open 100m butterfly), junior girls’ captain Ellie Barker (girls’ 13-and-under 100m backstroke), Wood (boys’ 15-and-under 100m butterfly), Canavan-Taylor (boys’ open 100m backstroke) and Elise Connor (girls’ 13-and-under 100m freestyle).

Individual runners-up spots were clinched by Murden, Eve Tuckwood, Grace Allsop, Emily Butler, Maje Felten, Katrine Wilson, Terry, Charlie Stenson, Emma Hutson, Chloe Melvin and Canavan-Taylor.

RESULT -- FALCON 178 points, Wantage White Horse 174, Ilkeston 138, Matlock and District 135, Dove Valley 109.
