‘Old man’ Baz Blewitt secured a fine victory in the latest match staged by HUCKNALL TOWN ANGLING CLUB last Sunday.
Thanks to a 13lb 3oz carp, caught in the later stages, Blewitt weighed in with 46lb 7oz to take first place on the Lilly lake at Aston Park Fisheries in Sheffield.
Fishing long pole, he also caught about 30lb of ide and skimmers on chopped worm, plus another carp.
In second place was Mark Saunders, who was leading until Blewitt’s big carp turned up. Saunders weighed in with 39-6 of mostly carp to 6lb on either corn or meat.
The rest of the weights were: Chris Porter 31-10, Kevin Blewitt 29-4, Alan Lucas 20-0, Steve Knighton 19-1, Reece Akin 17-3, Russ Tideswell 17-0, Craig Akin 16-1 and Trevor Tideswell 11-6.
The club takes a break for the Bank Holiday this coming weekend.
However, they are back in action again on Sunday 10th May when their next match next match is at Longford Fishery in Longford, Derbyshire.
IN-FORM Lee Woodings struck gold again when HUCKNALL ANGLERS hosted a match on the Donnington lake at the Hemington Rycroft Fishery in Leicestershire last Sunday.
Of 14 members who fished, four did not bother the scales. But in contrast, Woodings enjoyed his second victory of the opening weeks of the 2015 campaign, thanks to a bag weighing 44lb 3oz.
He finished just in front of second-placed Brian Cross, who recorded 43-14, with third spot going to Rob Daws with 39-5.
The other weights were: Danny Giles 36-8, Alan Birch 32-2, Dave Clarke 29-1, Ray Pickin 27-4, Tom Bakewell 9-0, Arthur Daws 5-9 and Brad Livock 5-7.
The club’s next match is this coming Sunday at their Goosedale headquarters in Bestwood Village.
The draw will be made in the car park at 8 am. No nets are required.
