THE INEXORABLE pursuit of the HUCKNALL EPA POOL LEAGUE title by Royal British Legion A continues as they racked up their 13th win from 14 unbeaten games this season.
This time the victims were Green Dragon, who were slain 6-2, with Martin Bremner and Tim McShane winning on singles and pairs for the leaders in a routine success.
Empire A, in second place, emphatically proved their own title credentials and kept the gap to just three points with a 7-1 demolition of reigning champions Spot-On Low C. Robbie Roylance got things rolling with an eight-ball clearance in the opening frame and Geoff Taylor recording a win on singles and pairs.
Stablemates Empire Muppets sit in third spot, a further point adrift, after coming from 2-1 down to beat Bestwood Village Social Club 6-2.
Paul Heath and Andrea Green, with wins on the opening two legs, and Paddy McShane and Roger Green on the final two, made sure of maximum points for Station Hotel (Hucknall) in a 6-2 success at Chequers B, whose only successes came on the pairs legs.
A run of four frames on the bounce helped Royal British Legion B come from behind to defeat Harrier.
In the final two matches of the week, struggling Sherwood Ranger were outclassed 6-2 by Liberal Club for their tenth reverse from 14 outings this term, while Yew Tree claimed an 8-0 whitewash against rock-bottom Seven Stars.
THE individual rankings are headed by Geoff Taylor, of Empire, and Martin Bremner, of Royal British Legion A, who have identical records of 13 wins and one defeat from 14 games apiece (93% success rate).
They are followed in the table by the trio of Shane Wood, of Chequers B, Robbie Roylance, of Empire, and Tim McShane, of Royal British Legion A, who have all won 12 of 14 match-ups (88%).
