Raison spearheads Falcon’s fine performance

Kyle Raison was the toast of HUCKNALL FALCON SWIMMING CLUB after the opening round of the Notts Sports Centre League last Saturday night.

For Raison was Falcon’s only winner in the gala at the Lammas Leisure Centre in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

However, the club’s head coach Ian Melvin still expressed his satisfaction at the performance of the team, who finished fourth of six.

“It was a really pleasing start to the campaign,” said Melvin.

“There were some good performances and many personal-best (PB) times throughout the age ranges.

“I was particularly pleased with the debut displays of Tilly Gunn and Charlie Stenson.

“Thanks also to those who supported the running of the night behind the scenes.”

Raison clinched his victory in the 15-and-under boys’ 50m butterfly. But no fewer than seven other Falcon swimmers picked up individual second places.

They included senior girls’ captain Sophie Melvin, who was runner-up in the 15-and-under girls’ 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle, and senior boys’ captain, who was runner-up in the 15-and-under boys’ 100m backstroke.

Also second were junior girls’ captain Ellie Barker in the 11-and-under girls’ 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle, Maje Felten in the 13-and-under girls’ 100m backstroke and 100m individual medley, Emma Hutson in the 13-and-under girls’ 100m breaststroke, Sophie Hutson in the 11-and-under girls’ 50m butterfly and Elise Connor in the 13-and-under girls’ 100m freestyle.

The girls’ 13-to-15-year-old 4X25m medley relay team of Sophie Hutson, Emily Butler, Maje Felten and Elise Connor finished runners-up too.

PBs in individual races were clocked by Sophie Melvin, Maje Felten, Max Boag, Ellie Barker, Archie Penlington, Emily Butler, Elise Connor (2), Harvey Green, Sophie Hutson, Emma Hutson and James Terry.

As part of relay teams, best times were also recorded by Max Boag, Jai Raison, Harvey Green (2), Sophie Hutson (2), Emily Butler (2), Maje Felten (3), Elise Connor (2), Sam Murden (2), James Terry (2), Kyle Raison (2), Archie Penlington (2), Emma Hutson (2), Chloe Melvin (2), Sophie Melvin (2), Tilly Gunn, Bradley Gregory and Benjamin Davies.
