A six-goal blast by prolific markswoman Rachael Endy helped HUCKNALL LADIES register another victory in their second match of the new Women’s Midland Water Polo League season.
After beating South Derbyshire 10-3 in their opening fixture, Hucknall welcomed West Midlands outfit Boldmere to their home pool at Hucknall Leisure Centre.
And Endy’s exploits enabled them to recover from a slow start to triumph 9-6.
That start resulted in Boldmere taking a 3-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. But Hucknall re-organised their game, developed more potency up front and found better defensive assurance.
Young players Giorgia Bosworth and Ellie Robinson grew in confidence as the game progressed, while the whole team worked as a unit to overcome tricky opposition.
A goal apiece from Endy and Cara Saunders kept Hucknall in touch by the halfway point. But it was in the third quarter when the match was really turned on its head.
Five more goals from Endy, one more from Saunders, plus an additional strike by Lynsey Wilson, teed up the win.
Hucknall were due to travel to Warley for their next match in the league on Wednesday night. But they are at home again this coming Sunday when they entertain Worcester.
