Defiant HUCKNALL FALCON were far from downhearted, despite finishing last of the five teams in a Third Round gala in the Notts Sports Centre League’s Second Division.
“It was very close, with only 18 points separating four of the teams,” said head coach Ian Melvin.
“We did miss some key swimmers on the night. But those that were there flew the flag for Falcon, and a return of 36 personal-best (PB) times was a real positive.”
Falcon registered two victories at the gala, which was held at their home pool at Hucknall Leisure Centre.
Both came in the 15-and-under 50m butterfly, with Kyle Raison striking for the boys and Sophie Melvin for the girls.
Raison also topped a list of 14 runners-up spots, finishing second in the 15-and-under boys’ 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle and also the boys’ open 100m freestyle.
Senior girls’ captain Melvin was second in both the 15-and-under girls’ 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle, while James Terry and junior girls’ captain Ellie Barker also bagged a couple of runners-up places.
Terry was second in the boys’ open 100m individual medley and 100m breaststroke, while Barker was second in the 11-and-under girls’ 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.
Other runners-up were Sophie Hutson (11-and-under girls’ 50m backstroke), Harvey Green (13-and-under boys’ 100m breaststroke), Emma Hutson (13-and-under girls’ 100m breaststroke), Emily Butler (11-and-under girls’ 50m butterfly) and the 11-to-13-year-old girls’ medley relay team of Sophie Hutson, Emily Butler, Emma Hutson and Elise Connor.
The Falcon swimmers who clocked PBs were: James Terry (4), Sophie Melvin (4), Ellie Barker (3), Kyle Raison (3), Adam Webber (3), Sophie Hutson (2), Emma Hutson (2), Harvey Green (2), Lauren Straw (2), Bradley Gregory, Charlie Stenson, Evie Allsop, Finley Ellis, Emily Butler, Jai Raison and Chloe Melvin.
