A blockbusting start to the new, eagerly-awaited summer season was made by Lee Woodings for HUCKNALL ANGLERS.

Woodings topped the weights with a huge haul of 70lb 15oz in the club’s opening fixture at the Little John Lakes fishery at Ollerton.

A total of 17 members fished the Robin Hood Lake, and most enjoyed a profitable morning, although Woodings finished more than 18lb of clear of his nearest rival. In second spot was Dave Clarke with 52-8, while veteran Arthur Daws came third with 51-4.

Other returns were: Alan Birch 48-4, Tom Bakewell 47-14, Terry Coltart 43-6, Derek Brough 42-9, Pat Hall 35-13, Rob Daws 34-7, Brian Cross 32-2, Ray Pickin 31-11, Danny Giles 30-5, Dennis Hall 19-0 and Ernie Davis 11-14. Three did not weigh.

This Sunday’s match is at Hackett Lakes in Holme Pierrepont. Draw 8 am.
