Birchalls speed up at TT practice

The weather on Tuesday evening was again fine and dry for TT practice and gave Mansfield brothers Ben and Tom Birchall the ideal opportunity to increase their speed around the 37.73-mile Mountain Road Course in the Isle of Man.

They increase their average speed to 112.047mph from a standing start and went straight past the grandstand to begin their second lap which would possibly have been quicker.

But another competitor suffered a crash which caused the session to be red flagged and subsequently abandoned for the evening.

Ben said: “The flies were out in force again tonight and when we returned to the paddock the outfit was covered with them. But we enjoyed another trouble free night of practice and are looking forward to tomorrow.”

The weather forecast for tonight (Wednesday) is for dry and bright conditions which will enable the Mitchells of Mansfield riders to continue their practice schedule with the Hanni LCR/Cofain Racing by Klaffi Honda.

The session is scheduled to begin around 8pm and if all goes well they should complete at least two laps of the course.
